Hi. Thanks. I think your right. The solution may be for me to send the "hourly" thing the way of the dodo. Set prices will help protect me from chiselers who claim they can only afford so many hours.
I don't think that's necessarily what he meant -- only that you should raise your hourly rate.
It's up to you whether you charge by set prices or by hourly rates, but you do need to be able to accurately estimate the work involved -- if you underestimate the work and price according to that, then you're stuck in the same boat.
Perhaps a combination of approaches. A website, for example, might start at $500, which includes 2 hours of client consultation and 10 hours of work, and two hours of after-sales support work. Additional hours beyond this are charged at $40/hour. I made up those numbers from thin air, but you get the idea.
That way you're covered in both directions. A piddly little site doesn't yield piddly little money, and the big complex clients get to pay accordingly too.

They're bringing in 40% of their revenue through digital sales because people already abandoned their paper distribution in droves, just like every other publication. People just go to Google News and get access to thousands of different articles on the same topic that are all free.

To me Serlet has more knowledge than Craig. He actually includes information about under the hood stuff and the nice new UI features. Craig just says "beautiful" "very natural". I will remember Serlet as the father of Leopard -- Apple's best release IMO and Craig with Lion, a release that really has nothing that exiting.

It's not really an arguable point... like all Ponzi schemes, Social Security does not make money, it simply takes money from younger taxpayers to pay benefits to older (now retired) taxpayers. In order for this (and all) Ponzi scheme to stay afloat, there must be more and more payers or more income from each individual payer to ensure the pyramid stays intact. Unfortunately, due to reality, there are fewer young workers relative to the number of retirees to keep the system afloat. Unless a miracle occurs, Social Security will eventually collapse just like any Ponzi Scheme.
At any rate, we're off topic. Back to the OP.

There's been reports of battery issues to. I haven't tested it myself, but it seems like I'm getting less battery life since 4.3.1, which is what many others have been saying. I don't know how widespread this isssue is, though.
I had about 200% battery degradation with 4.3. 4.3.1 seems to have fixed that.

It's hard to comment on how to actually charge your service because I am not in the US, but take a look at similar businesses and how they charge use this as a guide. Also gauge the project on how much the client is prepared to pay, it might be a cheap but open the door to many other good clients or it could be an expensive one off with little benefit for you.
